This short story will grab your heart. Parker, 32 lawyer, is raising his 7 yr. old son alone after his husband's death a year ago. He's having trouble balancing work and home, so, his friend suggests a nanny. Little Nate and his friend Marcus switch envelopes because they don't like the lady chosen. On the first day of work, Jake, 27, 6'6'' with reddish-brown hair and brown eyes, shows up ready to do the job. Nate already likes him, and Parker was impressed by him also, but had chosen another, because of the attraction he felt. The first day of school Nate hits someone and Jake goes to see what's up. Nate has a shiner, and it warms Jake's heart to see how Parker handled it at home. Then after 3 months of a wonderful routine, a night turns into passion: stripped, swallowed, muffled cries, erotic, eager hands, rhythmic, savoring, pleasure, breathy moans, etc....Parker gives Jake four week notice in a rash decision, (how can he love someone new and forget his husband?) but at week three, Parker sees Jake with a man, he doesn't know it is Jake's brother, and he goes possessive to the max. This is cute, adorable, heartwarming, and loving.

This book has some really funny parts as well as heart warming ones too. Loved all the characters. Looking forward to seeing more books by Lisa Worrall.
Love this story.
A Nanny for Nate ( for me) was a great story. I laughed and I cried. After the death of Parker's husband he is left with raising their son. Parker is a successful lawyer working a major case so when his baby sitter quits he is left to finding a live in Nanny. So with the help of his baby sitter and the sneaky Nate enters Jake. Once the feelings begin it's a struggle for Parker because his feels he will be cheating on his husband. I would recommend this story.
Nothing unexpected in this story, but still enjoyable. Little bits of Brit English to stumble over (en suite, duvet? Does no one in the British Isles know what a sheet or blanket is?) Reasonable character development with no surprises.
I found this to be a really beautiful story that deals with grief in a really sensitive way.
Parker had lost his husband, Nate's father, in really tragic circumstances and was struggling to come to terms with his loss. Even a year after the event he still felt the loss terribly. He works long hours and Nate has to visits a babysitter more than is ideal and the pressure is taking it's toll on his relationship with Nate. Nate just wants his 'pop' back.
When the sitter advises she is moving from town, Parker is forced to look at alternative childcare and interviews for a live-in nanny. Due to his attraction to Jake, Jake wouldn't have been his first choice but thanks to Nate's interference, Jake joins the household.
Jake and Nate naturally bond but Parker struggles with his feelings, spending more and more time at the office to hide from how he really feels.
I have not lost anyone in such circumstances, so cannot even pretend to understand how hard it would be to come to terms with the loss of a lover but this story had a true sense of realism. The new relationship progressed at the appropriate pace and Parker's pain and struggle was obvious. It was wonderful how his friends and loved ones wanted him to move on and find happiness but it was equally as wonderful that Jake understood that Darren was an important part of Parker and always would have a special place in the family.
This was a truly lovely story. It wasn't overly long but full of emotion with a real sense of hope for second chances.
if you have loved once and lost that love, you might think that it was all the fate had in store for you. Some even feel the survivor guilt and will not allow themselves to hope for a new chance. But sometimes the Fate insists on you taking that chance. Or is it your son playing the role of Fate? Parker is a widower who needs a live-in nanny. The choice falls on Jake - obviously a very good choice, too. He fills the void in Parker's and Nate's lives and finds the love of his life at the same time. I was just questioning why Parker continued to use his old wedding ring 4 months into the new relationship (it is said he took it from his finger before burying it on the grave). In my mind it is a bit offensive towards Jake.
When I first saw that this book had been re-released I was certain that even if I hadn't read it, I surely must own it. After checking my Archived items and even My Orders I was forced to concede that maybe I really hadn't ever purchased it. Why not? It was certainly right up my alley-----a Manny coming to the rescue of a harried Dad. Said Dad finds the Manny very attractive but fights and denies his feelings. Child(ren ) blossom under his care. Then the Big Conflict!! What the conflict is and how it is resolved is the basis of each of these stories. Yeah I get it...so why hadn't I bought it?
I don't know!! But I've rectified that oversight. I made a point of buying it for real this time. And it was worth all my head scratching.
The characters draw you into the story. They have you rooting for them, yelling at them, being made privy to their secrets. You know/hope there is a HEA coming but what route would it take? Then to complicate things even further you have a grieving father who hasn't moved past the angry stage. Who's suffering from survivor's guilt. Who isn't willing to let go....even though his head and heart are telling him two different things. And then there his adorable & sullen son, who misses his Daddy too.
If you like your Nannies to be Mannies then you're sure to enjoy this story.
