Adam has trust issues mainly with journalists and Joy, Heron's Landings newest resident is just that. When Adam comes into Trudy's while Joy and Grace are getting to know one another his manners or rather lack of become infuriating when he learns she's a journalist. However strong the attraction between them, he doesn't hold back his contempt for her job. Her coming for a tour of Rivers Bend Vineyard and stating she was going to do a write up on them didn't improve his mood or disposition any. Their back and forth aurging only fuels the attraction and they're not willing to fight it. So they began an undefined relationship without promises. As they spend time together they give details of their lives. And while Joy is attempting to help save Adam's family vineyard all he sees is her trying to benefit from his families misfortune. So they banter back and forth over her doing an article about Heron's Landing and the Vineyard. It doesn't help that her ex shows up unannounced nor invited. But it's just the excuse Adam needs to hide his fear of her returning to her ex, the fear of him loving her, and the fear of letting the pass go. When an article comes out about Carolyn his deceased wife & her family, Adam decides Joy is at fault regardless of what she tells him. He allows his insecurities to break both his & her heart even when she tells him she loves him and would never hurt him in such a way. But in Adam's stubbornness he pushes her away. Joy's fears of rejection causes her to run back to Chicago. And even when Grace (Adam's sister) continues to let him know he's losing Joy by continuing to allow fear control his life, he ignores the love he's finally acknowledged. But Grace knows all to well how unreturned love feels and she doesn't want that for her brother or friend. So she reaches out to Joy. Who decides it's time for her to fight for the man she loves. First she'll make her ex retract his article, then she'll write one worthy of Heron's Landing and Rivers Bend vineyard. Seduce Me Sweetly is an "I love you but I hate your job" story. Despite the title, it's pretty angst-y throughout.
Joy left Chicago behind and just wanted to be a journalist in the small town of Heron's Landing, Missouri. Joy met local vineyard owner Adam and found herself attracted to him very much, and it'd be a great local piece on the vineyard, which seems it can use the publicity. Adam lost his wife in a tragic accident, and when paparazzi stormed the place (because his wife had been a rich celebrity) Adam saw all reporters as the enemy. Adam knew Joy brought forth feelings he thought he would never feel again, but when Joy refused to stop writing about the vineyard, he can't possibly have her in his life. When trouble arrived in town, Adam will have to confront his own demons... or lose Joy forever.
Both seem to be unreasonably stubborn, and all that was needed to change their mind... was a bit of epiphany.
Joy has lived through some tough heartbreak with her Fiance and Best friend having been having an affair so her best move was to move to another city and start over, so she moves to Heron's Landing where she makes her first friend named Grace who happens to be the sister of Adam a man who at every turn insults her. Adam a man who has lost his wife suddenly and then lots of bad media came with it so when Joy comes to town and he finds out she is a writer he tries to stay away but they have this instant chemistry that they can not deny, but things wont be all great when trust is tested.
What I enjoyed most about Seduce Me Sweetly was watching how Joy was willing to move away from her comfort zone to start over and get a fresh start. I loved how sassy she was when ever Adam would push her buttons and how she stuck up for herself and never let his words show any emotion on her face when standing in front of him to mess with him, Watching Adam finally come to realize that his wife would want him to move on and be happy, and how Joy and Adam felt with each other that they never felt before.
This book was a great read, I really enjoyed it and cant wait to read the next book in the series. This book has Joy she has been cheated on by her Fiance and with no other then her best friend so she decides to move and get a fresh start, Grace Adam's sister is glad to have made a great new friend in Joy and sticks up for her brothers rude behavior because she knows he is a good man just changed since his loss, Adam a man who feels he isnt allowed to move on but finding his feeling for Joy run really deep and he will have to decide what he wants before he looses her for good. A love story. If you like stories like this, then Seduce Me Sweetly is a must!
